Trudy Turvey, MSPT

trudyCEO and Clinical Director
Certified Lymphedema Specialist
Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist
LSVT® BIG Certified Clinician

Trudy’s career spans three decades as clinician, administrator and teacher in the field of rehabilitation. As a licensed physical therapist, she holds certifications in exercise evaluation and training, comprehensive lymphedema management, LSVT-BIG for Parkinson’s disease, and cancer rehabilitation.

Trudy began HealthLinks in 1999 after ending her position as Director of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Boulder Community Hospital. At the time 2 of her close friends were undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Realizing that these women needed someone who specialized in all aspects of their care, she set out, with Brenda Lewis to establish the first ever clinic to address the needs of post-surgical care and lymphedema for breast cancer. She saw their first patient in her dining room and within a short time moved into an office. Within a year, the clinic moved to space at the University of Colorado and began seeing more lymphedema patients as well as individuals with other types of cancer. HealthLinks began to offer exercise evaluation and training as well as teaching students about the role of exercise in cancer treatment.

In March 2009, the clinic opened as the first full service integrative care clinic for patients with cancer, Parkinson’s disease, neurological disorders, lymphedema, orthopedic issues and other medical conditions. The specialty in Parkinson’s disease was added to offer underserved Parkinson’s patients with a new scientifically based treatment titled LSVT-BIG. This therapy is unlike the typical approach of strengthening and teaching compensatory approaches to patients with this progressive disease.

As part of our integrative approach, we have added massage therapy, nutritional counseling and education classes, psychosocial counseling, acupuncture and meditation. These complementary services are seen by HealthLinks as integral to patients’ journeys to wellness.
